Sunshine Coast business owner and Accredited Practising Dietitian, Tyson Tripcony, could not be happier with his finalist status for a 2018 Australian Young Small Business Champion Award, but he says his road to success in the dietetics industry was not a smooth ride.

“In South-East Queensland alone, there are approximately 160 new graduates from Nutrition & Dietetics degrees coming out each year but there are only around 5 new graduate jobs in the area” he said. With odds as dire as these, Tyson found gaining experience problematic

“I was working for up to 9 different organisations at one point, between Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast to make up full-time hours “he said. Tyson, who completed his Master of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Griffith University under 7 years ago, after completing his undergrad at University of the Sunshine Coast.

He currently owns 5 dietitian dominant businesses with multiple sites around Australia with his national hub being located within Sunshine Coast Dietetics on Aerodrome Road, Maroochydore. The businesses certainly keep him busy.

“Owning and running a business, or several, isn't easy, especially in this industry, but substantial hard work and fostering a strong and supportive team culture has been essential”. One of Tyson’s businesses, Fuel Your Life, has also achieved finalist status for the Health Improvement Services category of the Australian Small Business Champion Awards which we be held at The Star, Sydney on Saturday, 21st April 2018.
