Where are the 'Grown Ups' in the Noosa de-amalgamation saga?

Some of the nastiness I have seen over the past few days has made me ashamed to say I am a Sunshine Coast local.  The myths & misconceptions that have been perpetuated on both sides of the de-amalgamation debate are shocking.  The fact so many have chosen to buy into this faux class warfare and fear mongering is worse :(

I will admit, I was one of the very few that actually thought Amalgamation was a good idea.  I would see what similar sized populations like Townsville had achieved with National Sporting teams, getting State & Federal Governments to invest in infrastructure, hell even a bloody big stadium like Townsville's (regardless of how old) would be nice and felt that having one voice for over 300,000 people would give us more power to achieve similar things.  It didn't.
