Get out of your House & habits for a change...
My husband and I work! Besides activities to do with running our daughter around, we rarely go out, nor have a "date" as such. I am sure many of you are reading this now & nodding with empathy and know exactly what I am talking about LOL!

We were invited to Comedy & Consomme being put on at the Indee at Eumundi and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My husband is not a "theatre goer", nor interested in what is considered "arty farty", so our first night out in a long time was a bit touch & go... Carol & John out there at the Indee are to be commended for putting on such a great night, that his pre-conceptions of the "high brow", not for him attitude went right out the window. We had a wonderful time, the food was scrummy, the company was very pleasant, the plays were great, and the range, from funny, to thought provoking was a testament to the talent we have here in our own backyard. I actually wondered if maybe they should be calling it "Comedy with Bite", one play in particular tickled my fancy with it's topical issue.

The only comment my husband had that was adverse was the lack of 'younger' people present to enjoy the food & performance. He was correct, they were scarce on the ground. I don't know whether the idea of seeing a play seems too close to the 'deep & meaningful' school performances many younger people considered themselves forced to endure, so have turned them off the experience, OR, whether like many of us, they are just stuck in a routine? Meet the same people, do the same things every weekend? Whether you were 15 or 95, you would have enjoyed the performance we saw.

So! All you people out there, like ourselves that get stuck in a busy, yet humdrum life, go and experience something different, instead of the 'norm', the regular pub session, watching the footy, seeing the latest US 'blockbuster' or thinking that buying your wife a bottle of wine is a weekend treat??? At least once a month, see a play, go to a show, visit that local theatre! We have some incredibly talented individuals here, but they can only keep putting on those performances if we all get out there and support and enjoy them!

Best Regards, Noely, Community Site Co-ordinator
