It's All Good, No Cranky Pants on this Week :)

I have always been a tad sceptical about 'special' days like Valentines, you know, I don't buy into it, I tend to think along the lines of being being nice to each other should be a regular occurance, not something you need to be reminded to do by a big advertising campaign.

This year, my husband and I did actually do something on Valentines Day, though it had less to do with Romance, and more to do with actually getting out of the office, away from the computer, and having conversation which didn't revolve around work or our child, you know, be 'adults'... So being the slack people that we are, no 5 star restaurants for us, we hit the Noosa Bowls Club, which by the way had a very good meal on with lovely entertainment, and at a good price of course. So there we sit, waiting for our meal, watching the Keno numbers, and really struggling, yes, it had been that long since we had time alone together without pressing family or business concerns to discuss, sad isn't it? Light conversation was hard to come by.

I have always been wary of people who think if you have a 'positive' outlook on life, things will come your way, etc etc. I tend to look at them and think, yes, things must be lovely in your world. But, I am thinking they may have something here. We started talking about how happy our daughter is, thoroughly enjoying high school, how great it was to have Pat back in the office, how optimistic the year was looking after last year being such a shocker for us all, and how lucky we were in our present situation, basically just chatting about how life is pretty good, we may be strapped for cash with School 'stuff' to pay, but still good. After an awkward start to the night, we both relaxed, enjoyed our meal and actually enjoyed chatting together for the first time in a long time. So maybe the 'positive' thinkers have got it right. We even ended the night not thinking about the cash and having a flutter on the pokies, and to our surprise, actually won, people around us were nice and friendly, the staff were lovely, all in all a very successful night both personally & financially LOL!

My wish for all you couples out there, particularly those who have been together for a while, don't worry so much about the whole 'have to be Romantic' gig, just remember why you liked your partner in the first place and just have a good chat, it can be thoroughly enjoyable!
