 Blown Away
Anyone else going insane with the weather? This is the first holidays where the office has been 'officially' closed until the 7th of Jan. We were hoping to toss in a few visits to the beach or a hit of golf in between working away on the upgrade, not happening... Though I guess for us at least being office-bound has meant that we are on track to be finished in a week, and was a good time to start the child slave labour with the daughter as not much else she could do either in between hanging out with her mates.
To be really honest, normally most of us locals tend to find the sudden influx of tourists & the massive overnight boom in the population in the likes of the Christmas holidays a bit of an annoyance, but gee, you really have to feel for all those holiday makers at the moment, no beach, shocking weather outside, roads a mess... For both tourists & locals alike I have tried to include 'indoor' events on this edition. The cinema is not the only wet weather option to get out of the house, there are some really cool pantomimes, library holiday programmes, plays etc on at the moment so check them out for something different.
On a serious note, I know that the constant wind can make you edgy, but please have a bit of patience when on the road or dealing with people in crowded shops, also, don't be an idiot and make the Surf Life Savers jobs worse by ignoring beach warnings. This weather is supposed to get worse in the next week and I know we are not used to this at all at this time of year, though as adults we are always doing that standard 'back in my day when we didn't have playstation...', so be a bit creative with the kids, even as adults a good old fashioned game of monopoly with a nice bottle of chardy can be enjoyable (I can vouch for that one), so best of luck & stay safe!!!
